PRE UNIVERSITY PROGRAM

The pre-university program courses focus on the sciences, arts and social sciences. The program emphasizes course units in English, Mathematics, Computer courses, Business Studies, Physics and Biology. This program is ideally suited to those students looking to begin their university studies but have not gained the minimum entry requirement of C+ (C plus) needed for admission to any bachelor degree programme.

Designed as a bridge, the Pre-University program opens up the way to a successful university career in local Universities and beyond. Upon successful completion of the pre-university, students are qualified for admission to most first-year university programs.

The program is designed to assist students:

• develop academic skills in reading, writing and research, which are necessary for success at the university level.
• learn to manage their time, to study effectively, and to prepare for examinations.
• benefit from small classes and individual attention, helping them become active, independent learners who are prepared for the demands of university study.

The program features:

• Intensive academic language and study skills preparation;
• Small size classes;
• Academic advising and assistance with the university application process;

This is a one-year academic program for high school/secondary school graduates who have not yet attained the marks required for admission to undergraduate degree programs. The program is designed to assist students to develop learning skills, knowledge, discipline, understanding and attitudes required for university education.

In order for a Pre-University graduate to be recommended for admission to a degree programme at one of our link institutions locally or abroad, he/she must obtain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.7 (B-) on a 4-point scale.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• Mean Grade C (Plain) at KCSE or its equivalent or
• 5 GCE O-Level passes with at least grade C (Plain) in Mathematics and English.
