BRIEF HISTORY
Augustana College has come a long way since its inception in 1997. From very humble beginnings; a single classroom with only 9 students, frugal resources and a single academic programme to our well developed Programs.
Augustana registers over 500 students in various certificate, diploma and degree programmes that the college has introduced over the years. These included: Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSc. IT), Bachelor of Commerce & Business Administration (BComBA) and Bachelor of Business & Information Technology (BBIT).
Augustana College has established academic linkages with other institutions of higher learning, both locally and internationally. Of notable mention is Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Juja, Kenya and National American University (NAU), Rapid City, South Dakota, U.S.A. Our collaboration with the two institutions has propelled Augustana from an ordinary college to a center of excellence in Information Technology and Business Administration.
In preparation for university status, the college has developed a Master Plan and Strategic Plan outlining its commitment to investing in infrastructure and other academic resources for the next decade and beyond.
Augustana College is an excellent choice for pursuing studies in higher education. This is because we not only offer many of the traditional elements found in colleges and universities that produce leaders of the future but we go far beyond the traditional or the ordinary by offering programmes that are relevant to the dynamic global business environment.
The college endeavours to promote capacities and abilities of students in challenging academic environment that encourages excellence. This is evident in the state-of-the-art computer facilities, a well-equipped Library and other teaching/learning resources that the college has invested in. Further, the college endeavours to maintain qualified lecturers and other academic staff to run its programmes.
The mission of the college is consistent with its commitment to providing quality education and training in order to meet manpower requirements of the public and the private sector.
In addition to academic pursuits, the college aims at assisting students to develop leadership and analytical skills and to improve their creativity through a variety of co-curricular activities offered within and outside the college.
